"Getting It Done" Challenge

Here is how I did on my August list.

1.  Work on embroidery rabbit project ( yes got Jan to August done )and wonky houses.(not done)
These are just a few.

2. Take a class to make a pillow Hawaiian style. (Yes I did take a class at the Maui Quilt Shop in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. I learned how to do needle turn appliqué. It is the first time I leaned how to appliqué. It was fabulous.

3. Just to add something different...learn to longboard on my new longboard. ( done)

My September list: This is a big list but hoping to complete most of it. My thought is to sew in the morning before work and LA quilt after dinner.

1. Start and finish my in-laws queen size quilt for their anniversary.
2. Custom quilt 3 Hawaiian wall hangings using my long arm.  Custom quilting will be new for me and something to learn. These are gifts for my nieces.
3. Make a sling bag for one of my nieces for her birthday.
4. Complete one customer quilt on long arm,
5. Complete 3 charity quilts on long arm.
6. Continue to work on Hawaiian lap quilt for our family when traveling.
7. Start E's t- shirt quilt for his November birthday. End of the month maybe.

I will be linking this post with Judy Laquidara's post at Patchwork Times.

Some more Hawaiian quilting

I started another Hawaiian quilting project. I am enjoying this form of appliqué.
Here is the other one completed.

Quilting Hawaii style

Instead of surf lessons in Maui, I decided to take a quilt class to make a Hawaiian pillow. It is one block that can be turned into a pillow or a quilt. It is appliqué style which I have never done.  I am enjoying it.
At Maui Quilt Shop, they offer every Friday a  2 hour class to learn how to do a Hawaiian pillow. You can choose the morning class or afternoon class. Helen was my instructor and was very good. I did not finish in the 2 hours (no one did) but got the basics that I needed to work on it on my own. I can also come back on Fridays and pay the small fee to get more help with it. I think I am ok. It is getting easier and I am getting faster. Here are a couple pictures of it so far. It is called Stephanotis (pua male). It is 18" square. He is the whole pillow panel.

Here is what I have done so far.
