This last week in March

If you read my Wednesday post there are a couple updates: one project got added and one started.

For my goals this week. I did complete my customer's baby quilt on the long arm.

I completed a charity baby quilt on the long arm for the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters.

I am working on the backing and hope to load/start the long arm quilting on my niece's quilt.

WIPs Wednesday/Thursday

Wednesday will be my check-in day for how my weekly goals are going.  I am linking to WIPs Wednesday #134 at The Needle and Thread Network, My Quilt Infatuation's Needle and Thread Thursday  and WIPs on Wednesday at the Quiltsy Team.

A customer baby quilt in a beautiful sunny yellow is almost done in this picture. One more row. I am using Fluffy Clouds pantograph with white thread Euro Pro by Connecting Threads.

Here it is complete...

So next to go on the long arm is my Niece's quilt, probably not until Thursday night, unless I get some time Wednesday after work and before my Wednesday night basketball league.

Except the backing wasn't ready for the one above SO I put this charity quilt on the long arm instead! Again trying to confirm some tension ideas for my machine

I am aiming to start a weekly goal sharing blog on the weekend of April 4/5, 2014.  See this link about C.R.A.F.T.S. Weekly Linky Party.

C.R.A.F.T.S. Weekly goals

One more finish late Friday night...
Before I write about my weekly goals I just want to share one more finish. I completed one more prayer quilt for the Prayers and Squares ministry at Bethany Community Church. Again my mom did the top and I did the long arm quilting and binding.

I really liked the colours on this quilt. It was fun to work with.

So with 3 small lap quilts completed last week, I am going to make 2 goals this week.

C.R.A.F.T.S. Weekly Goals:
(see here about the weekly Linky party I will run on Sundays starting April 5)

1. I have a customer lap quilt to do. She is bringing her quilt Sunday. I have my quilt room all set to go.
This is my quilting/sewing room.

Here is my table I put out for customers to see the pantographs and thread I have.

My thread which is mostly from Connecting Threads and Superior threads Omni or So Fine!

Here is my batting selection, Warm and White 100% cotton by the Warm and Natural Company, Soft and Bright 100% Polyester by the Warm and Natural Company and a roll of Pellon 100% polyester. My favourite is the Soft and Bright.

2. Long Arm quilt my Niece's quilt when I am done the customer quilt so it might be later in the week.

Do you have weekly goals? You should join my C.R.A.F.T.S. Weekly Linky party starting April 5th.

Friday Finishes in March and a new Linky Party??

Chat time:
Last week I got a lot done, I am going a little slower since I have to get used to getting back to work!  I did complete, long arm quilting and binding, a couple small lap prayer quilts on the weekend and then still working on the last one during the week.
I have been rushing to get to quilting and worrying that I do not get time to sew.  I have decided that I also need some even slower quiet time to sit.  I don't sit when I long arm quilt.  I think it will be a healthier balance especially during the busy work week.  I now view the time I do spend quilting as quality time not necessarily quantity.

Linky Party:
Also I would like to try to host a linky party on the weekends for those who would like to post their weekly goals. These weekly goals keep my sewing time focused with more quality and not jumping around onto different projects. I don't get too bothered if I don't accomplish them.  They are more like a "To Do" list. I know a few bloggers have mentioned that goals do the same for them. I am aiming for starting April 4th.   I am new to blogging so there might be some bumps along the way. This is the sample link box below.  I am not sure I like it yet but will research other methods of creating one.  This link may change in look. Please watch my blog for more information.

Finishes:
So here is a picture review of what I accomplished this week. Long arm quilted and bound.

My Third Week in March

Well, I had a great March Break. Monday I will be back to my full time schedule. I still hope to accomplish a few things this week. I also changed up my blog page.  I wasn't really happy with the look before.  Now I am happy with the colours and my Hawaiian applique that I did.  Still thinking about the post font though...anyway....

Here are my goals for this week:

Complete 2, maybe 3 prayer quilts on the long arm, especially to confirm stitch tension. One is on the long arm already... My mom did these tops for me. They will then go to my church's Prayers and Squares ministry.

If I have time...work on long arm quilting a lap quilt for one of my nieces who turns 16 in April. This is a picture of the top only.  Fabric is prairie paisley by Moda. I got this as a kit from a little shop in St. Jacobs, Ontario. It is not there anymore.
