Weekend Finishes:

I finished on the long arm the second queen size quilt for a customer. No pics yet other than the one from when it was on the long arm. It is raining here and inside pics just aren't the same! I will  post more pics on Friday Finishes post.

I am hosting Hexie Weekend until Monday night.  I have a giveaway there and so does Angie at her blog so stop in for a visit.

Welcome Hexie Weekend Linky Party!

July 25 to 28th

I have the honour of guest hosting "Hexie Weekend" Linky Party this weekend! We have 2 giveaways! See below!

It all started when Angie from a Quilting Reader's Garden hosted a TGIFF Linky Party earlier this year where I won the giveaway prize she was offering. It was a fat quarter and some hexagons to inspire someone to try or rekindle English Paper Piecing.  Well...I tried it and I fell in love with EPP!   Thank so much for the giveaway Angie and for inspiring a new facet of quilting passion!  So I am excited to guest host Hexie Weekend!

First Giveaway: I will also be offering a giveaway of a fat quarter and some paper hexagons for one lucky winner! Please leave a comment if you are interested in winning the giveaway.

Second Giveaway: AngieN is also offering a giveaway!  Please visit her at Quilting Reader's Garden this weekend as well.

Here is what I have been up to with EPP hexagon flowers...

This picture I did at Summer Math Camp using construction paper while the students were busy at the centres and I joined in.  Clearly I have hexagons on the brain and it relates to math camp!

These are my collection of 2 1/4" hexie flowers.  Some you may have seen these before if you follow my blog. These are attached.  I am hoping to make a scrap lap quilt with this size.

These are waiting to be attached.

These are all of them.

These are some other beautiful flowers in my garden.  I think they are Phylox. They kind of look like hexie flowers!

EPP Hexie Flower Progress

A couple Sunday's ago we went to Toronto to watch the world cup with some friends.  I worked on the 2 1/4" hexie scrappy flowers. Last Saturday I went to a birthday party 3 hours away and worked on another hexie flower and prepared 3 more 1 1/2" flowers.  Here are the pics of the flowers.

This week of July 20th

Update: I had to choose a new winner for the TGIFF giveaway.  The first winner never answered me back after 2 emails. So the new winner is #21 Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts. I contacted her and she is eagerly waiting for her package.

I didn't have a finish on Friday but I have three for Sunday!  Here is the first of two quilts for one customer.

I also made these ceramic birthday plates for my niece and sister-in-law at a ceramic place called Crock-a-doodle.

Goals for this week:

1. Complete the second of two quilts for my customer.

2. Work on EPP in my spare time.

3. Maybe make a pedal purse for my bike from the Sew-it...Today magazine that I picked up at Michael's this week.

That's it!

This is all I got done...sorry

( A finish but not a quilt...)

July 18
I did not complete my one quilting goal for this week. I did get some EPP done but only last Sunday. I will share those pics at Hexie Weekend. My job goal to survive Summer Math camp is going well.  It is so easy to jump into teacher mode so I have to remember it is camp too!

I did get my house goal done.  We needed to get the house ready to sell it.  I hope you don't mind seeing house organizing finishes cause I am so happy it is done! (and then I have time to quilt again!)  Now we have to just keep it up. Many of these pics are panographs. (I hope you like house pictures, taken with afternoon sun shining in)

I take care of the outside too like cutting the grass and gardens. ( I enjoy it and my husband is allergic to grass! Seriously he is...he has to wear a mask and take an allergy pill and then sleep for hours cause he has an allergy attack!
The front

The back.

Living room (I made the quilt on the right for my husband)

Kitchen and dining room across from living room.

Office

Foyer

Our room

Basement rec room

Basement bedroom (left quilt is a bought one, my mom made the right quilt and I did the long arm quilting)

The most important room in the house!

Younger son's room upstairs. (I made this quilt!)

Older son's room upstairs. (My mom made this quilt.)

Loft upstairs

Upstairs Boys' bathroom (have to have proof that it can be this clean!)

There are a couple more bathrooms but I didn't take pics of them.

This is what I worked on for 3 weeks so this could happen starting today...

By the way...this has been a great house but now it is just too big when the "not so little ones" start to go away to university.  We just don't need the space.  We are looking for a townhouse where they cut the grass and we just walk in and live and quilt!

TGIFF giveaway winner:
I hosted TGIFF last Friday. I offered a giveaway to one person who linked a finish. The winner is #30, Sara from Nerdy KnitTwit.

I have two goals for quilting this week and one big house goal and one job goal.

Job goal:
-to do a good job with Summer Math camp that starts this week. I have never done this before so I have the unknown nerves.  I am praying and trusting for help from above!

House goal:
-to finish getting our house ready to go on the market. Pictures will be taken of the house on Thursday and the For Sale sign goes on the yard.

Quilting goals:
-finish one of 2 customer queen size quilts on the long arm

- work on EPP flowers when or if I can!

EPP Hexagon Flower Progress

It's been a good week for completing some Hexie flowers. I had some time at my yard sale, in the car and to put up my feet this week to help me slow down a bit. So here are the pictures. Most were taken in the evening so they didn't turn out as well as I wanted.

Here I am at the yard sale doing the EPP thing...

First this week, I stitched these 3 flowers on a 12"x12" Kona Pale Flesh solid.

Then I worked on the larger hexies and started to put them together as I complete them.

This one I made on a trip to the "States" ( Niagara Falls, NY) to eat dinner at Panera Bread and to buy pillows at Marshall's.

The pillows are the ones on our couches in our living room.

Welcome Back TGIFF!!

July 11-  I would like to apologize at the top for the longer post and lots of pictures!  I hope you can forgive my excitement!
Welcome Back TGIFF!  I am so excited to host TGIFF again!  I get to share a couple baby quilt finishes and my progress on my new found love ... EPP hexie flowers.  Thanks to a giveaway win, right here at TGIFF, from Angie N at a Quilting Reader's Garden.  So I thought that I would also do the same like a "pay it forward" and offer a giveaway of EPP hexagons, a fat quarter and bit of accent fabric (picture at bottom of this post) to one winner who links a finish to this linky party. Maybe you will be inspired to learn English Paper Piecing!  Here's hoping...
So here are my Friday finishes and EPP hexie flower blocks update!
My ball hockey teammate had twins and I finally got the binding and labels on these baby quilts! Yes she had a boy and a girl.

Here is my EPP progress...
I love the portability of these little hexies.  I can take them in the car, on the train, to work etc..you get the idea. I also have the goal of making one lap quilt with the blocks with 3 smaller flowers on them and to make a lap quilt using my scrap bin with the larger flowers.
I now have 2 Fiskar's paper punches in 2 different sizes, 1 1/2"  and 2 1/4". (Suggested by AngieN)  I use a heavier paper like card stock or old binder dividers someone left behind at school as seen in the pictures below.
Here are the pics of what I have done so far since the beginning of June.

These are the original blocks with the original fabric I won. I will use these for a table runner.

These 3 will be for a lap quilt. I used slightly different fabric. I used the 1 1/2" paper punch.

These are the flowers I made with the extra large 2 1/4" hexie punch. 2 are done, 1 in progress, 3 glued and ready to go.

Hope you enjoyed my EPP story, progress and finishes! I am looking forward to reading about your finishes!

I am glad you stopped by to see all of the finishes linked to this blog post. I will be randomly choosing one lucky winner from the blogs that have linked to this post. I will contact you by email and post the winner on my weekly goal post on Sundays.
