Hexies This Week

Last week of August

I worked with hexies by appliquing them onto a piece of Kona Pale Flesh solid, 9 1/2" x 91/2".

I also completed my Hawaiian appliqué block.
Here is the before pic.

After pic

I did these 2 different EPP flowers travelling Saturday using a Jaybird template.
These are pentagons.

Hexie and pentagon mixed together.

Last Week in August Finishes

I completed a couple customer quilts on the long arm this week.

This one is a large lap quilt. I used purple Superior thread.

I used Golden Threads' Starlight pantograph.

This one is another lap quilt. This was a rush order. I used Essential Pro natural thread from Connecting Threads. I used Angel Wings pantograph. The customer said the name of the pattern is Chopsticks.

I got a Singer 99K on Kijiji ( like Craigslist ) for $25! I then took it to get serviced so I am hoping just a cleaning and fine tuning will have "Suzie" up and running to take to quilt class. Here is what she should look like cleaned up. She didn't come in a case either.
(Not my Suzie but a cousin.)

Finishes and Goals

August 24

I only had one craft finish and one work finish this past week. I spent most of the time on getting my classroom ready to welcome the students  on Sept. 2 which was my work goal. I don't have pics of my finished classroom. Sorry.

I did EPP this hexagon scrap flower and I sewed it on a 9 1/2" block of a Kona solid. I think I cut the template wrong but I am ok with how it looks.

MY GOALS THIS WEEK ARE:

1. Complete this long arm customer twin quilt on Glory Be ( my long quilt machine ).  I am using a Golden Threads pantograph called Starlight and using a Superior thread in purple with a size 14 Groz-Beckert titanium needle.

2. Work on second quilt which is queen size for the same long arm customer.

3. Hand stitch Hawaiian block or EPP when I can.

This Week...August 17

I like writing my plans each week...it keeps me focused even if I add new projects.

I did have one more finish this weekend.  I completed long arm quilting a baby charity quilt for the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters.  I was trying out a new pantograph called Starstruck by Golden Threads.  I used a white thread by Superior.

MY GOALS:

1. Long arm quilt 1 of 2 customer quilts.

2.  Work on EPP when I can.

3. Paint the bulletin boards in my new-to-me classroom at school.

That's it...Should be a quiet week.

Hexagon flower progress

August 17

With trips and appointments this is what I accomplished this week in Hexie goodness...

These are 2 1/2" Hexies...I measured the width not a side. So these flowers are about 6" wide.

Friday Finishes...

On Thursday!

August 14

This was a more productive week for me...

On a 10 hour trip on Saturday and a day at the doctors with my Mom, I got these EPP flowers done.

I completed 2 charity quilts ( 1 baby and one lap) and 2 customer quilts on the long arm.

KSCQ's charity lap quilt. Someone else made the top,

1 KSCQs charity baby quilts completed on the long arm.
This one I used Stars and Loops pantograph with purple thread.

The customer quilt I shared in the post earlier this week.

This is another customer quilt. I used Heart Throb pantograph from Anne Bright and White Superior Thread but I don't know which kind.

I also made 4 ceramic plates at a place called Crock-A-Doodle. These are birthday plates for my nieces and nephew. I painted these in one hour!
