September Review and October Goals

Well it's that time again!!  Review of the month and a look ahead.

September was very busy with the sale of my house and the purchase of a new townhouse AND starting back up at school with a grade I haven't taught for 5 years!  So let's take a look at my September goals to see how I did!

A review of my September goals:

1. Complete long arm quilting customer quilts. I have 4 to complete. 1 queen size and 3 baby quilts. This queen size one is currently on the long arm. (Done!!)

2. EPP hexie flowers 8 hours from Hexagon Alley Challenge. (not done but got about 4 hrs done)

3.
Complete one or more charity quilts on the long arm for KSCQs. (Done! 3 of them and one for a student - free of charge)

4. Work on a couple prayer quilts on the LA for Bethany Church group. (not done although one is loaded on the long arm)

Ok so now for my October list...

1. Complete 2 or more prayer quilts on Glory Be, my long arm, for the Bethany Community Church group.

2. Complete Christmas charity lap quilts for the KSCQs.

3.
EPP hexie flowers 8 hours from Hexagon Alley Challenge.

That's it since I have a yard sale to organize for October 5, host Thanksgiving October 12 and write report cards that are due October 27.

Hexagons...it's been so long!

Yes I finally have some hexagons to show you!  Since school started I have not had many opportunities to EPP hexies!  I bring my project box to and from school but find no time to work on any!!  Finally I got some done today and last Sunday!
I am also having trouble with my blogger app on my ipad and phone so I am not happy with how my photos are turning out! So this is my solution - mail them to myself and then go on the old computer and make a post!

These are my current hexie flowers that are being added to the collection. The top left one needs a bit more stitching.

This is for my scrap quilt.

This is also for my scrap quilt.

That's all for my progress on hexies!

TGIFF - First Fall Friday!

Welcome TGIFF to the first fall post and the last Friday of September 2014!

It is always a priviledge to host TGIFF!  I love seeing what you all accomplish in your quilty lives!

Here are my finishes this week.  It's all about giving back!  Quilting can give us such an opportunity to share our time and talents.  A wonderful group of quilters at my LQS called the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters, take the time to get together each month to sew quilts for local charities. They piece the tops and backs and I get the chance to long arm quilt a few of these lovelies as does another fellow long armer.  Click here to see the many community quilts I have long arm quilted this year.
This week I completed a large lap quilt for the Kindred Spirit Community Quilters.
I used a silver thread by Superior Threads with a pantograph called Popcorn. (Sorry my pics are not as good- somehow my new ios 8 is not working with blogger)

Earlier this week, I had an opportunity to give back to a student in my class. She brought me this quilt top that she pieced together by hand using bandanas!  She knows I quilt and was so excited to show me.  I asked her if I could take it home and long arm quilt it for her and put the binding on.  She picked the pantograph called Beaded Curtain and I used the silver thread I had on the machine from the charity quilt.  So this is what her quilt looked like quilted.  Still have to put the binding on.

This week I hope to...

I had 3 long arm quilt finishes last week!  See what I got done here or here.

This week might be a busy week. We got a firm offer on our house so we have an inspection on Monday.

We are putting an offer in on a townhouse. We hope to find out if we get the one in the picture below by Friday. It is the same builder as the one we sold.  It is brand new and still needs some things chosen to put on the inside like colours of carpet and paint.

I have a charity lap quilt on the long arm I need to finish.

I received an email asking that I switch into doing some charity Christmas quilts before I work on the 7 lap and baby quilts I just picked up.

I have pottery lessons again this week but I forgot to take pics from last week again! Shed Pottery by Johann is who I take lessons from.

We have a 101 birthday party of my husband's grandma (Mama Lola) to go to Saturday which rounds out the week!

That's it! Thanks for stopping by!

I long arm quilted (not pieced)...
    A twin

I used  part of the Classic Leaf pantograph with a beige variegated thread by superior threads.

The back...

A lap quilt.

I used Paper Chase pantograph with grey/ silver variegated King Tut thread.

A baby quilt

I used part of the Chain Maille pantograph with grey/ silver variegated King Tut thread.

That's all for this week! Although maybe I need to say or maybe I don't if you haven't noticed yet ...I LOVE LONG ARM QUILTING!!
I love seeing the pieced tops come together with backing and batting! I love picking out a pantograph that goes with it! It's completely different than my day job and makes me happy too! My family makes me happy yet this one is for me to bless others!

What I hope to do this week...

I picked these completed coasters up from Crock-A-Doodle. This was something I worked in last week. I just painted them.  It is 4 coasters.

What I hope to do this week outside of working full time...

1. Is to get a couple charity quilts done on the long arm for the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters. The tops/backs are ready to go. I just have to long arm quilt them.  Currently this one is on the long arm.

2. Work on a baby quilt for my friend using this old version of a Strawberry Shortcake panel.

3. When I can, (which seems to be less than in the summer) EPP hexie flowers like this...

4. My second pottery class is this week.  I hope to remember to take pictures of my creations from last week.

Finishes by Friday

Well I got 3 customer baby quilts done this week.

Minky on the back.

Quilt #2

I used "Starburst"pantograph and Honey thread by Connecting Threads Euro Pro series.

Quilt#3

I used "Heart Throb" pantograph with King Tut variegated grey thread.

I also made 5 pots and 1 cup at my 2 hour pottery lesson on Tuesday. Silly me I didn't take any pictures. I will next week!

I got my "new to me" Singer "Suzie" back from the shop where she got cleaned and tuned. She looks and sews great! She will come with me to quilt gatherings to sew. She is a 1956 99K model.

The only thing she is missing is a spool pin. So I am using this screw driver for now!
